Inside Real Estate Announces Winners of Sixth Annual Give Back Awards
Three members of the real estate community were selected for their exceptional service and community impact in 2025. Each winner received a $1,000 award to help them continue the meaningful work they are doing to support and strengthen their communities.

The awards recognize members of the real estate community who have made a meaningful difference through service, philanthropy, and leadership within their communities throughout 2025.

2025 Give Back Award Winners
The Helping Hand Award: Scott Brown
Scott Brown, a real estate professional known as “Your Neighborhood Realtor,” is honored for transforming his personal recovery journey into a life of service for others facing substance abuse challenges. Clean since August 12, 2012, Scott has spent the past eight years actively mentoring individuals in recovery and supporting the nonprofit Recovery Beyond through leadership, outdoor wellness programs, and hands-on community service. His compassionate approach and willingness to serve—whether through mentorship, physical labor, or financial support—have made him a trusted advocate and role model within the recovery community.
The Walk the Talk Award: Bruce Johnson (Posthumous)
Bruce Johnson is honored posthumously for his extraordinary commitment to charitable giving and lifelong dedication to helping sick children. After losing his daughter, Alyssa Rae, at just 20 days old, Bruce devoted his life to fundraising in her memory, supporting SickKids Hospital in Canada and the Children’s Miracle Network. Through remarkable global motorcycle expeditions—including rides spanning from the Arctic to Argentina—Bruce raised more than $1 million, transforming personal tragedy into enduring hope and impact for families in need. In recognition of his legacy, a donation will be made in Bruce’s honor to the Alyssa Rae Johnson Fund at SickKids Hospital.
The Creative Changemaker Award: Rick Peña
Rick Peña is recognized for his visionary leadership and commitment to inclusivity through the creation of the Miracle League of the 805. Beginning in 2016, Rick helped lead the effort to build a fully ADA-accessible baseball field for children with special needs in Southern California. Through years of perseverance—including forming a board, raising $1.2 million, securing land, and breaking ground in 2023—the project became a reality. Today, the Miracle League of the 805 continues to grow, offering children of all abilities the opportunity to experience the joy, confidence, and community that come with playing baseball.
The Helping Hand Award recognizes individuals who step in to support others through direct service, the Walk the Talk Award honors those who embed charitable giving into their lives and work, and the Creative Changemaker Award celebrates innovative approaches to giving back.
Winners are featured across Inside Real Estate’s social media channels and Give Back Awards website, and each receives a $1,000 prize with the option to donate it to the organization of their choice.
